The Project’s Carrie Bickmore speaks candidly about her struggles in lockdown in Victoria and says she almost reached breaking point

She’s been stuck in lockdown for months on end in Melbourne.

But Carrie Bickmore believes she is ready to move on with her life after a year that saw the Project co-host struggle like many Victorians did in lockdown.

It was when Premier Daniel Andrews had announced Melbourne’s ‘sixth’ lockdown that The Project co-host felt like she was reaching her breaking point.

Moving on: Carrie Bickmore has spoken candidly about her struggles in lockdown and how she’s ready to move forward. Pictured with her six-year-old daughter Evie

‘I don’t think I was mentally prepared to do it again, which sounds weird, as it’s a virus that I have zero control over,’ Bickmore, 40, told Body + Soul magazine in The Sunday Telegraph.

‘I like to move forward and keep things going – and everything stopped,’ she stated.

Melbourne is slowly emerging from its two-year nightmare and returning to a sense of normality after being the longest locked-down city in the world.

With restrictions easing, Carrie says she’s ready to shake off the lockdown stresses and ease up moving forward.

‘I’ve set myself a challenge. I’m trying to only (schedule) one thing out – a dinner, drinks or a function – each weekend and be more spontaneous,’ she added.

Carrie has continued working on The Project as a presenter throughout the pandemic.

The Channel 10 current affairs program has recently been hit hard in the TV ratings, with plummeting audience numbers year-on-year.

Metro ratings for the talk show have dropped to an all-time low of just 367,000 in 2021.

That’s a 30 per cent decline from its five-city audience of 538,000 a decade ago.

A new report last week revealed that Carrie and fellow co-host Lisa Wilkinson will face big pay cuts.

The Project co-hosts will have their whopping seven figure salaries slashed, per the Daily Telegraph’s sources.

However, a Channel 10 spokesperson denied the report when contacted by Daily Mail Australia, calling the claim ‘nonsense’.

According to the newspaper, Bickmore is believed to be earning $1.5 million per year, while Wilkinson earns $1.7 million.

Carrie has been a host on the program since its inception in 2009.
