The Project’s new star Michael Hing marries fiancée Hum Mahbub in traditional Bengali wedding in Sydney

Michael Hing is a married man. 

The Project’s newest star walked down the aisle with his fiancée Humyara Mahbub in a Bengali wedding on Sydney Harbour on Saturday.

The 38-year-old and his bride look resplendent in traditional attire as they exchanged vows by the water surrounded by family and friends. 

Hum donned a banarasi silk saree with stunning cream embroidery and carried a bouquet of red and pink flowers, while the groom matched in a dhoti kurta. 

The couple posed for a a series photos shared to social media, with Michael looking absolutely smitten as he cuddled up to his beloved. 

Following the ceremony, the pair held their reception at a Chinese restaurant with Michael clearly having a ball. 

Michael’s friend and co-star Nikki Britton attended the nuptials and shared the good news on The Sunday Project. 

‘I’m rehydrating heavily. It was so beautiful. I’ve never been to a Bengali wedding. Look at them! It was just so full of love’ she said on the show this weekend. 

‘It was s full of people. It was so full of delicious Chinese food, I have an MSG hangover. Look at this beautiful bride’ she added.

Comedian Michael’s new wife is an illustrator based in Sydney who has been an artist for over a decade. 

She is also a writer, having penned the Netflix comedy series Why Are You Like This, which aired in 2018. 

‘I’ve never worked on a project as collaborative and frustrating as making a TV show’ she told Liminal magazine. 

‘It’s insane to get mad at your friends because you disagree about if a joke is funny, but I literally had multiple emotional breakdowns about it’ Hum went on.

Michael meanwhile joined the line-up of Australian current affairs show The Project late last year. 

He left Triple J earlier this year after three years of hosting the radio station’s popular drive show, Hobba and Hing with Lewis Hobba. 

Michael is also the former was a host of the ABC programs Good Game: Pocket Edition and Good Game Well Played.
