The Project’s Peter Helliar makes VERY off-colour joke about unfortunate moment New Zealand MP Carmel Sepuloni is interrupted by her son brandishing a penis-shaped carrot

Peter Helliar delivered an off-colour joke about New Zealand MP Carmel Sepuloni during Monday night’s episode of The Project.

The comedian played a clip where the Minister for Social Development and Employment’s Zoom call was interrupted by her son entering the room.

In the footage, the young boy is seen holding a carrot which he was desperate to show his flustered mum.

The odd looking vegetable was an unusual shape, resembling a penis.

As the boy tried to show his mother his find, she desperately swatted his hand away.

The clip then ended, causing The Project panel members to burst out laughing.

After the footage played, Peter quipped that the mum had insisted that the child return the carrot to the fridge.

‘Or the bedside drawer, whichever,’ he added before sniggering.

Peter’s comment implied that the shape of the carrot could make it a useful marital aide.

While Peter broke into cackles, his co-stars joined in, laughing at the off-colour joke.

The 46-year-old told his co-stars that he was having an issue investigated and was inspired by Hugh Jackman, who is an outspoken advocate for skin cancer checks and  updated fans on his own progress following a biopsy.

‘He found a couple of things, I did the same, they found a few things. They are having a closer look and will find out soon.’

Peter went on to encourage viewers to check their own skin despite the lockdowns.
