The Real Housewives of Brisbane cast revealed

The Real Housewives of Brisbane cast revealed – amid news the Foxtel hit reality series has been ‘shelved’

The Real Housewives of Brisbane had a cast in place before being shelved, according to a new report.

Among the glamorous candidates included PR queen Fleur Madden, couture designer Sonia Stradiotto and jewellery designer Jimena Alejandra.

Despite moves to get the reality series on air, Foxtel is understood to have dropped the Brisbane edition in favour of a second Sydney season.

Jimena tells Adelaide Now that she was approached in 2002, ‘but then they told us they were cancelling it’.

Fleur added that the network had plans to make the series different and less frivolous than its processors.

‘They were specifically looking for business women and women that had their own success, they were trying to make it different’ she told Adelaide Now.

It was earlier reported that The Real Housewives reality franchise would be moving to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

According to The Courier Mail, suitable candidates living in Queensland’s wealthiest postcodes were being sought out.

A number of high profile women had been approached by producers and some reportedly declined the opportunity, opting to keep their lives private.

The women reportedly approached by producers include a prominent fashion designer, a WAG and a radio personality.

A well-known real estate gun and a glamorous Gold Coast socialite are also tipped to appear on the series.

The last season of the Foxtel series about monied socialites was set in Melbourne, but it was met with some hard criticism from fans when it ended last year.

Foxtel first considered the Gold Coast five years ago as a location for the hit show.

Meanwhile, it is understood there won’t be another season of the Real Housewives of Melbourne.
