A mural mocking the recent fundraising efforts of former Wallabies star Israel Folau has appeared on the back of a Sydney pub.

The image, on the wall of the Botany View Hotel in Newtown, shows Folau leaning against a yellow Lamborghini wearing Gucci slippers and a Rugby Australia jersey, as he pleads for donations with an eftpos machine at his feet.

The artwork, created by artist Scott Marsh, was discovered on Friday morning and was shared to the bar’s Facebook page.

Folau’s appeal read: ‘The righteous shall taketh from the punters for the divinity of ones property portfolio is most sacred in the eyes of the lord. Amen!’

His bank details and a note offering a ‘free bottle of holy water’ to donors also appeared on the sign.

The pub praised the artist’s work, while condemning Folau for ‘money grabbing’

Facebook users were also quick to comment on the inner-west pub’s Facebook post.

‘Love it when the truth be spoken,’ wrote one user.

The mural comes amidst the dismissal of Folau from Rugby Australia for an anti-gay social media post that was an alleged breach of his contract.

Folau has been battling with Rugby Australia, claiming his sacking was illegal and demanding $10million in damages.

He met his former employer at the Fair Work Commission in Sydney in the first step of his unfair dismissal case, however, they failed to reach a settlement.

Folau is seeking to raise $3million from his supporters, despite being a millionaire himself with a vast property portfolio, to campaign for religious freedom.

Folau’s Gofundme page raised more than half a million dollars before it was shut down for violating the terms of service.
