The Script perform in Sydney for Nova’s Red Room

They are the Irish rockers who are gearing up for a 2018 Australian tour.

And ahead of their whistle stop, three-date Antipodean jaunt, The Script gave an intimate performance for Nova’s Red Room at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney on Friday.

Frontman Danny O’Donoghue looked chuffed to be performing, up-close-and-personal, beaming broadly as he strummed on his acoustic guitar.

He went rock casual for the gig, wearing a simple black T-Shirt under a black leather jacket and a pair of matching pants.

Guitarist Mark Sheehan also went for a relaxed look in a plain black T-shirt and kakhi chinos

The pair looked all business as they harmonised, with both Mark and Danny chanelling emotion with eyes shut as they sang.

The crowd looked to be lapping it all up, too, with the front row beaming as fans had their phones at the ready to snap a Insta-worthy photo.

Speaking to Confidential this week, Danny revealed that he was told there was a chance he would never talk again after undergoing two throat surgeries to remove nodules on his vocal chords.

‘I was told: ‘The doctor is going to slit your throat.’ That’s the reality of it. There was a chance I would never be able to talk again. I had to sign a waiver saying I knew the risks,’ he told the publication.

‘I just thought: ‘What am I gonna do? Do I just fade away? This is my bread and butter. I don’t do anything else. It was a big headf**k.’

He also revealed that his recovery mean that he was unable to talk for two months and had to communicate using a ‘type and speak app.’
