She then showed how she cleans the machine, using two teaspoons of citric acid.
The mum simply adds the ingredient to the detergent compartment, closes the door and puts on a quick cycle while it’s empty.
‘Wow, it is so clean,’ she said as she showed off the newly sparkling appliance.
‘You will be amazed by the difference.’
And others quickly agreed with the method.
‘Citric acid is the key ingredient in most of the dishwasher cleaners,’ one man explained.
Others said citric acid can be replaced with vinegar and baking soda for a similar result.
‘Baking soda, yes. I do this regularly. I also like to add vinegar. Doesn’t leave a smell or anything and really cleans out the dishwasher. Better yet, it takes away the weird smell a dishwasher can have at times,’ one mum said.
