Terrifying footage has emerged of the moment a driver narrowly avoided hitting a vehicle at high speed after it crashed into a concrete barrier.
The shocking near-miss happened on a stretch of the M7 motorway near Rooty Hill, in Sydney’s west, just after 2pm on April 13, 2024.
Dash cam footage from the vehicle travelling behind a white Hyundai hatchback showed the Hyundai crash head-on into the barrier on the right side of the highway.
The hatchback immediately spun around into the path of the oncoming vehicle, but the two cars only just managed to avoid hitting each other.
The vehicle travelling behind the hatchback then slowed down and pulled over onto the side of the road along with another vehicle.
The clip captured the damage to the front exterior of the vehicle after it collided into the barricade.
Debris came flying off the car while the bumper snapped off during the horror crash. Part of the barricade also came off following the collision.
Moments earlier, the hatchback was seen merging into the lane where the barrier was constructed.

The footage, which was later uploaded to Facebook, left dozens of commenters shocked that the crash didn’t turn into a two-vehicle collision.
‘Could have been a disaster for DC (dash cam) driver,’ one person wrote.
‘Well avoided by DC driver,’ another person wrote.
‘Holy s**t. DC driver is so lucky,’ a third added.
Others were left baffled by how the driver of the Hyundai managed to merge into the path of the road divider.
‘Why did the white car think to go into that lane? It was marked yellow and clearly barricades were up?’ one person wrote.
‘How hard is it to stay in your own lane,’ another person wrote.
‘That is the entry for the road upgrade and very obvious,’ a third added.

Some wondered whether the road markings could have caused the crash.
‘Could poor road marking at the work site be the problem?’ one person wrote.
‘The driver was probably confused with the new lines mixing in with the old ones,’ said another.
A NSW Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia police are not aware of any reports made about the crash.
