Shocking video shows the moment an out-of-control car crosses into the wrong lane before hitting a parked car and flipping onto its roof.

The car was travelling along Chapel Road in Bankstown about 10.30am on Saturday, when the driver appeared to lose control and career into oncoming traffic.

Nearby shop owners raced to help the P-plate driver, who was trapped in the overturned car, after the dramatic crash.

Witness Mohamed El Tahch was one of those who ran to help from his nearby shop and said for a minute he feared there may have been a baby inside the car.

‘He smashed the pole over there and he went over the parked cars. There were guys walking across, he just missed them,’ he told 9News

‘He was unconscious so we took off the seat belt and we dragged him out of his car. There was a baby seat at the back so we opened the back door to see… lucky there was no baby.’

The driver was taken to Liverpool hospital for mandatory testing and was dazed but otherwise stable.

The force of the crash snapped a no stopping sign and flung it 15 metres down the street – luckily not hitting any passers-by.

‘He’s very lucky – after this incident he should start enjoying life.’ Mr El Tahch said.
