The Simpsons is pulled from Channel Ten in Australia

The Simpsons has been taken off free-to-air TV in Australia in for the first time in 25 years.

US Sitcom Modern Family has also been pulled after negotiations between Network Ten and 21st Century Fox fell through.

This follows the dumping of Fox content including MASH, Malcolm In The Middle, Futurama and all Fox movies, The Daily Telegraph reported.

It is understood Fox was unhappy with the amount Ten, which is currently in administration, offered to pay for its programs.

American broadcasting company CBS has gained credit approval to take over at Ten, but the agreement has not yet been finalised.

With the shows being off the air it opens the up the possibility of rival networks bidding for content.

A spokeswoman for Nine told The Daily Telegraph may consider bidding for one or two shows.
