£40,000 was also banked by Littler following four nights of competition in Belfast, Manchester, Liverpool and Aberdeen.

His total PDC order of merit earnings are now registered at £303,500 for the season so far.

That was the latest six-figure sum to be earned by Littler as he continues his rise to the top of the darts world during his debut year on the Premier League tour.

His previous run to the world championship final was the first big-money prize of Littler’s career and he quickly continued to bank thousands as he became the rising star of darts.

Victory in the Bahrain Masters saw Littler beat three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen in January and seal a further £20,000.

Another £10,000 followed for the Warrington-born star at the Dutch Masters that kept the digits adding up as he became the most popular player on the tour.

Littler showed no signs of slowing down by continuing to take further high-profile scalps in the former of Rob Cross in the Belgian Open and claimed another £30,000.

Other earnings came in the form of £15,000 after he reached the quarter-finals of the UK Open along with another £15,000 for winning the ProTour Players Championship

Speaking to Sky Sports after winning his inaugural Premier League crown at the O2 Arena on Thursday, Littler said: ‘For all the doubters, you’re not doubting me any more! I’ve just picked up this.

‘It’s so good to win but in front of my family and my girlfriend! I don’t know what to do.

‘I’ve hit a nine-darter on the World Series and so did Phil [Taylor] – now I’ve hit one in the final here and so did he.’
