The surprising SECOND use for the hole in men’s underwear

Man has conquered Everest and travelled to the moon… but one can only wonder whether they would have achieved it sooner had there been a flap in the front of their underpants.

Believe it or not, there are two uses for the fly at the front of men’s underwear – not just one.

So-called experts have now revealed there was a great deal more ‘science’ involved when designing the boxers, briefs and y-fronts rolled into top drawers across the nation.

Pants-professionals at SheathUnderwear have explained that over the years, the design of men’s boxers has been ‘changing drastically’.

While the underwear hole makes it more convenient to urinate in a public restroom, it is shocking to find that only one in five wearers use it

But one thing’s for sure – no one would ever put a hole in boxers without a good purpose.

In revealing more about how boxers and tighty whiteys have been designed and developed over time, the underwear company said that there are ‘actually many names’ for the gap in the underwear.

A Sheath spokesperson said: ‘The hole in your boxers is also called a fly.

‘You’re free to call them whatever name you want, but the functional term is still fly. Why is it there? You guessed it!

‘The purpose of the fly is to make it easier for you to pee while wearing boxers.’

And according to the team, only around 20% of males who wear boxers actually use the hole.

That’s one in five boxer-wearers.

They revealed that most men would rather pull them down and take out their member when using the loo.

While the hole makes it more convenient to urinate in a public restroom, The experts claim the fly has a secondary use too.

And this is to provide comfort to its wearers.

Reportedly, ‘modern underwear is nothing like what men wore even a few decades ago,’ and so the area where the fly is now located has been ‘changing drastically.’

The experts continued to explain: ‘In the past, this area used to be flat. This design does not give the man a natural way for his penis to be contoured.

‘Thankfully, men today have a better option. New boxer briefs and men’s briefs have a design that actually has a roomier pouch. This new pouch design gives the man more definition, comfort, support, and freedom.’

They also added that nowadays, the most common fly comes with a button that is easier to close.
