‘Lock him UP already!’ The View co-hosts erupt in wild segment after Donald Trump admitted in new audio clip to having classified documents

  • The View’s co-hosts discussed charges against Donald Trump on Tuesday
  • Sunny Hostin suggested the former president kept classified documents after leaving office in order to sell them
  • Trump was indicted on various federal charges including a violation of the Espionage Act

Tuesday’s episode of The View’s featured a wild segment that saw the panel discuss former president Donald Trump’s legal troubles as Joy Behar demanded he be ‘locked up already.’

The panel was discussing a recently unearthed 2021 recording in which Trump discusses keeping a classified Pentagon document relating to a potential attack on Iran after he left the White House.

Earlier this month Trump was indicted on a slew of federal charges including obstruction and a violation of the Espionage Act over the classified documents.

When the question of why Trump would want to keep classified documents after leaving office, Sunny Hostin suggested he could have been planning on selling them.

‘Everything about him is making money so why not?’ replied Joy.

'He's a grifter. He's a grifter,' Joy Behar said of Trump. 'Lock him up already. Lock him up'

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who worked as a senior communications official during the Trump administration, seemed to agree with Sunny’s theory.

‘To be honest. I wondered that with the documents reportedly about the Saudis as well, because he obviously has financial interests in like Gulf golf,’ said the former White House official.

Griffin added she thinks Trump will get at least five to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Joy then cut it and demanded the former president be put in prison.

‘He’s a grifter. He’s a grifter,’ she said, exasperated as the audience applauded.  ‘Lock him up already. Lock him up.’

Before demanding Trump be imprisoned already, Joy claimed the former president was ‘stupid’ for speaking about such matters while being recorded.

‘Nixon was caught on tape and that was the end of his career as president. This guy is caught on tape talking about grabbing women’s genitalia – he didn’t learn from that or from Nixon and now he’s continuing to tape himself. That is really the definition of stupidity,’ she explained.

Aide Margo Martin was regularly taping Trump at the time so that she could accurately depict his remarks in former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows’ memoirs.

In the recording, first obtained by CNN, Trump suggested he wanted to share information from the document with others but knew there were limits to what he could declassify after he left office.

The comments, made in July 2021 at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, would seem to undercut Trump’s repeated claims that he declassified the documents he took with him from the White House to his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago, after leaving office.

On Monday Trump claimed the two-minute recording ‘exonerated’ him and slammed the federal prosecutor in charge of the investigation.

‘The Deranged Special Prosecutor, Jack Smith, working in conjunction with the DOJ & FBI, illegally leaked and “spun” a tape and transcript of me which is actually an exoneration, rather than what they would have you believe,’ wrote Trump on his Truth Social platform.

‘This continuing Witch Hunt is another ELECTION INTERFERENCE Scam.

‘They are cheaters and thugs!’

A team of prosecutors led by special council Jack Smith have spent months investigating the potential mishandling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago and whether Trump or anyone else sought to criminally obstruct the probe.

If convicted of the shopping list of allegations, he could face a maximum of 100 years in prison.

It is the second set of charges leveled at Trump this year, plunging the country into fresh legal and political uncertainty as he campaigns to return to office and after his defeat to President Joe Biden in 2020.

It means the leading candidate in the Republican primary will have to split his time between the courtroom and the campaign trail as he tries to seal the GOP nomination.
