The View’s Joy Behar refused to play Jason Sudeikis’ mom on ‘Ted Lasso’ because she didn’t think it was ‘the hottest show on TV’: ‘I’m a writer… I don’t care about other people’s stuff!’

  • Joy Behar revealed on the show’s podcast, Behind the Table, that she refused to play the role of Dottie Lasso due it being ‘too hot’ in London
  • She also claimed that the show was not the hottest thing on TV during yesterday’s episode
  • The role later went to actress Becky Ann Baker, who has been nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal in the episode titled Mom City

The View’s 81-year-old resident liberal, Joy Behar, told the world that she rejected the role of Jason Sudeikis’ mom on Ted Lasso.

Behar revealed on the show’s podcast, Behind the Table, that she refused to play the role of Dottie Lasso on the show’s third season due it being ‘too hot’ in London.

When asked by the producer, Brian Teta, on the show’s latest episode yesterday about why she ‘dismissed the possibility of being on their favorite show of all time’, she said it was because of the heat wave.

‘It was too hot, you remember? There was a heat wave going on at that time, like, 100-degree weather, and I’d have to get on a plane and go in the middle of the heat? No.

‘Listen, I’m a writer, I write my own stuff, I don’t care about other people’s stuff. I don’t need to be in everything,’ she told viewers.

Teta expressed his disappointment and told Behar that the show was the ‘hottest show on TV’.

But Behar denied the claim and said: ‘It was not the hottest show on TV.

‘If they were doing it in the spring I would’ve done it maybe, or in the fall, but not in the middle of the heat wave.’

When Teta reminded her that Baker had received an Emmy nomination for the role, she simply said: ‘Bravo. Good for her.’

Most of Ted Lasso’s third season was shot around London’s Richmond and Twickenham regions and premiered in March 2023.

The city’s Met Office revealed the UK had experienced a brief but unprecedented extreme heatwave from 16 to 19 July 2022, with temperatures being recorded at 30 to 40 degrees Celsius.

In 2023, the Office said temperatures exceeded 30 degrees Celsius in the UK for seven consecutive days from September 4 to 10 and had reached 31 to 32 degrees across south-east England.
