The Voice Australia coach Kate Miller-Heidke stuns fellow judges with savage power move

Australian singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke shocked her fellow judges on The Voice Australia Tuesday night when she pulled a very savage ‘power move’.

The Caught in The Crowd hitmaker, 42, called in her only Ultimate Block for the blind auditions in order to land contestant Jaedyn Randell on her team.

In a ‘spicy’ move that stunned the other judges, the pop star pretended to trip and fall onto her Ultimate Block button, effectively stopping Guy Sebastian and Adam Lambert from getting the 22-year-old on their team.

Tensions began to rise after Jaedyn, who hails from New Zealand, gave a show stopping rendition of the song Big White Room by Jessie J.

Kate, Guy, 42, and Adam, 42, all turned around and prepared to fight over who would get the opportunity to coach Jaedyn, who voiced the Disney princess Moana when the movie was dubbed in te reo Māori.

‘I think you could win this whole competition. I had goosebumps the whole time. That was genuinely exciting,’ Kate told the aspiring star.

‘Your voice is nuts, I mean that’s like an elastic band. You have range for the stratosphere. It’s unbelievable what you did with it just now,’ Adam added.

Guy said: ‘I think you’re an artist, Jaedyn, I really do. Your ability is incredible. I would really love to be your coach.’

However, Jaedyn appeared unmoved by the judges’ speeches as she struggled to pick which pop star she wanted to work with.

At this point, Kate concocted a sneaky plan and invited the young artist to sit in her big red judging chair.

‘Would you like to come and sit in my chair? Come and have a turn sitting in the chair… Feel how it feels in the chair,’ Kate said.

‘Do you want to – oh, see these buttons I have here? Oops!’ she cried as she pretended to fall and pressed her Ultimate Block button. ‘I just slipped over sorry.’

‘Oh, no you didn’t,’ Guy said as Adam covered his face with his hands and said: ‘Oh, my god.’

The Ultimate Block is a new gimmick introduce to The Voice Australia this year which gives judges the power to block all three of their fellow coaches at once, ensuring the artist they like joins their team.

After Kate used her Ultimate Block power to secure Jaedyn for her group, viewers lit up X, formerly known as Twitter, with their thoughts.

‘Ohhhh another Ultimate Block! She was good though!’ one user wrote.

‘I already don’t like blocks as it is but I don’t like the Ultimate Block even more,’ another added.

A third wrote, ‘Wow ultimate block!’ while yet another bemoaned: ‘I hate the Ultimate Block.’
