The Voice Australia judge LeAnn Rimes breaks down in tears over heartbreaking performance

The Voice Australia judge LeAnn Rimes broke down in tears on Sunday night when she was moved by a heartbreaking song performed by one of the contestants.

Duncan Toombs, 47, who lives on Central Coast, NSW, left the American singer, 41, an emotional wreck when he sung an original piece about his late father.

Forced to ask for a tissue from her co-star Adam Lambert, the Can’t Fight the Moonlight hitmaker was blindsided by the touching tribute the Toowoomba-native made for his dad.

The Aussie country singer initially captured LeAnn’s attention when he performed Have A Little Faith by John Hiatt, turning all four judges’ chairs.

Eager to hear more, LeAnn, who became the youngest person to ever win a Grammy Award at just 14, asked Duncan to sing one of the original songs he wrote.

Duncan went on to belt out a soulful tune in honour of his late father who made a living driving trains with Queensland Rail.

LeAnn broke down midway through the song and was seen wiping away more tears with each line Duncan sang.

‘I just completely lost my s**t over here. Oh my lord. Can I get a tissue? Anybody got a tissue?’ she said as Duncan finished to a standing ovation from the audience.

Given their shared connection to country music, Duncan chose LeAnn as his coach despite turning the chairs of Adam Lambert, Guy Sebastian and Kate Miller-Heidke.

‘I loved that song. That was beautiful,’ LeAnn told her fellow judges after Duncan left the stage.

‘Especially since he hasn’t been writing music that long. To write a song like that? He’s got undeniable songwriting talent.’
