‘That’s why this hurts’: Guy Sebastian’s personal life bombshell on The Voice leaves Delta Goodrem speechless
The Voice’s Delta Goodrem was speechless on Sunday as Guy Sebastian revealed he’s close friends with contestant Matt Gresham, after she unknowingly stopped them from working together by using her ‘block’ button.
Guy dropped the bombshell seconds after Delta blocked Matt from being able to choose him as his mentor, while completely unaware of their relationship.
‘You don’t know this, but Matt’s a really good mate of mine. That’s why the block hurts, because we go way back together,’ explained a frustrated Guy.

Each coach has two ‘blocks’ they can secretly use during the auditions this year. This means they’re able to block another coach from getting a singer that they want.
After Matt finished singing Bruises by Lewis Capaldi, Guy was blocked from being his potential mentor. The coach then demanded to know who had blocked him.
‘Okay it was me, I did it. I definitely pressed the block button. I did it with the best intention because that’s how much I love your voice. It came from the right place,’ explained Delta, unaware of Matt and Guy’s relationship.
As Guy then said Matt is a ‘really good mate of mine’, Delta couldn’t believe it.

She muttered ‘oh, sorry’ as Guy complimented Matt, saying: ‘I seriously love you and know what you’re capable of. Your voice is full of storytelling and life experience.’
Delta told the singer: ‘Your voice is everything that I want on my team.’
Explaining why he auditioned on The Voice, Matt said: ‘I’m from Western Australia, about two years ago I suffered with some really bad PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and depression and basically just quit music.
‘I haven’t really been able to do anything until this.’

Guy’s friendship with Matt appears closer than they made out on The Voice.
The contestant has previously toured with Guy, and the pair have spent years gushing over each other on social media.
In December 2017, Matt even joined Guy on stage at Carols in the City. Last year, Matt shared a picture enjoying a beer with Guy ahead of the ARIA Awards.
