The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol finds Daryl betrayed and Carol taking a pit stop in Greenland

AMC’s The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol introduced some treachery that befell both Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride).

The first season found Daryl washing up in France and helping a young boy named Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) to get to The Nest.

Laurent is believed to be the new Messiah since he was born to a zombie mother, with The Nest planning a ceremony that proves Laurent can survive a zombie bite.

Since he has become quite attached to Daryl, Union of Hope leader Losang (Joel de la Fuente) sends Daryl off on a wild goose chase to find a seemingly kidnapped Laurent… but it was all a ruse, with Laurent still safely in The Nest.

Carol came across some treachery of her own, meeting two bizarre women in Greenland who nearly killed them both.

Carol had coaxed Ash (Manish Dayal) into flying her to France, under the guise of finding her ‘daughter’ when she’s really looking for Daryl.

They take a pit stop in Greenland to refuel and for Ash to fix the leaking fuel line, when they meet two seemingly-normal women, Eun (Minami) and Hanna (Maria Erwolter), who agree to help them fix his plane.

Eun goes with Ash to gather supplies to fix the plane, while Carol goes to help Hanna, with both discovering not all is as it seems with the ladies.

Hanna, it turns out, was supposed to kill Carol, while Eun was trying to convince Ash to have another child in an attempt to repopulate the world.

Hanna, though, couldn’t bring herself to kill Carol, wanting a fresh start for herself, and ultimately uses Daryl’s old crossbow to kill Eun.

While Carol promised Hanna they’d take her with them in their plane, a troubled Ash kills Hanna by firing a flare into her face.

They ultimately land in France where Carol has her her first encounter with Marion Genet (Anne Charrier), the leader of Power of the Living, which vows to bring order back to society.

She is captured and finds a potential ally in the English-speaking Remy (Francois Perache) while being transported to Genet.

The final moments of the episode show the brutality of Genet, who is still torturing Stephane Codron (Romain Levi) for the whereabouts of ‘the nun, the boy and the American’ – a.k.a. Isabelle (Clemence Posey), Laurent and Daryl.

Daryl was joined by Isabelle and Fallou (Eriq Ebouaney) to ‘find’ Laurent, but they learn that Emile (Tristan Zanchi) was trying to kill them.

Thankfully Fallou stopped Emile, giving Isabelle enough time to kill Emile herself, though towards the end of the episode we learned something else about this plan.

While many likely assumed Losang had ordered that Daryl be killed, it was actually Jacinta (Nassima Benchicou) who changed the orders to have Daryl killed.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol returns with the third episode on Sunday, October 14 at 9 PM ET on AMC.
