The White Lotus’s reputation for five-star luxury isn’t just for show.
Walton Goggins, appearing Monday on The Late Show, spoke about working on the HBO series over the past six months in Thailand, including the exorbitant hotel fees he racked up.
The Birmingham, Alabama-born actor, 52, didn’t want to reveal much about his storyline on the HBO series, which examines the events taking place at a luxury resort.
‘I can’t tell you about the story of the character that I’m playing because I think [the show’s creator] Mike White would literally take one of us out,’ Goggins said.
Goggins did expound on the expenses of staying at the five-star hotel while filming the show’s third season.

‘What they don’t tell you when you when you check in to the White Lotus is how expensive it is to check out of the White Lotus,’ Goggins told host Stephen Colbert.
Goggins said that HBO paid for his room, while the cast had to pay for their incidental expenses.
‘After the first six weeks, I swear this is a true story – not just for me but for everybody – six weeks into it, I go to pay my bill and there it is and I looked at the bill and I started laughing,’ Goggins said.
Goggins said that when a member of the hotel staff handed him the bill, he ‘started laughing like, “Ha, yeah right – you guys are joking!”‘
Goggins, who’s had featured roles on long-running shows such as Justified and The Shield, said that he went over the itemized final tab with staffers in an effort to understand how his tab had ran so high.
Goggins said he asked a staffer, ‘You’re telling me Thai spiced cashews cost that much money?’
Goggins added, ‘I thought I had maybe, like, five – and they said, “No, you had 30.”‘
Goggins said that other items that cost him included a bottle of Prosecco that was $150, and club sandwiches.

Joining Goggins in the third season of the series includes Scott Glenn, Carrie Coon, Michelle Monaghan, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Parker Posey, Leslie Bibb, Blackpink’s Lisa (Lalisa Manobal), Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs and Tayme Thapthimthong.
Other members of the ensemble cast include Sarah Catherine Hook, Sam Nivola, Aimee Lou Wood, Nicholas Duvernay, Francesca Corney, Arnas Fedaravicius, Christian Friedel, Morgana O’Reilly, Lek Patravadi and Shalini Peiris.
The show’s third season will debut next year.
