The Whitlams’ frontman Tim Freedman lists lavish three-bedroom Sydney home in the inner west for $2M

Tim Freedman has listed his freestanding Sydney terrace with a $2million price guide after purchasing it 20 years ago.

The Whitlams’ frontman, 59, will continue to live in Newton in the inner west but has now decided to downsize to a smaller home.

With the property going to auction on September 14, the musician has left the sale to the same men who first sold him the house – Michael Harris at Raine & Horne.

‘Tim has been in the inner west for a long time, he actually owned a house nearby when he bought this one and moved across,’ the selling agent and director said.

‘He loves this area… he’s staying local, he’s just downsizing.’

The lavish two-storey home has an old world feel to it with very traditional architecture, boasting three-bedrooms and a bathroom on the upper level.

Meanwhile, the ground floor has been built for entertainment with very large living spaces taking up the entire level, including a kitchen and dining area.

This flows out onto the outdoor deck and courtyard in the back, with King Street just 240 metres away.

All windows in the property are said to be acoustically engineered, perfect for musicians like Tim who don’t wish to disturb their neighbours.

The sales agent said he has received a lot of interest since setting the listing live last week, with 23 groups already walking through the property.

‘It’s appealing to a broad range of people, including young families, empty nesters and families with teenage kids,’ Michael said.

Tim is an award-winning musician best known for his indie rock band The Whitlams which formed in late 1992.

With hits such as Blow Up The Pokies, No Aphrodisiac and I Make Hamburgers, the group has won three ARIAs and been nominated several times.

The original lineup included Andy Lewis on double bass and Stevie Plunder on guitar and lead vocals alongside Tim who also played the keyboard.

However, the group members have since changed several times over the years, with Tim as the only remaining face from the original band.
