The Wiggles documentary Hot Potato: The Story of the Wiggles will release to Amazon Prime Video on October 24.

The biopic will follow the group’s rise to fame – from their formation in 1991 to their ultimate triumph as the world’s most popular children’s group.

A trailer of the feature-length film dropped to YouTube on Tuesday and features interviews from founders Anthony Field, Murray Cook, Greg Page, and Jeff Fatt.

As the original blue, red, yellow and purple skivvy Wiggles, the foursome are at the centre of the highly-anticipated documentary.

‘We met at university doing a course in early childhood. This connection with music and teaching is what became The Wiggles,’ Greg, 51, said in the trailer.

The video went on to show that The Wiggles had a rocky start in 1991 when very few people believed they could be successful.

Anthony, 60, was seen next, saying: ‘The booking agent said, “What am I going to do with four men and a dinosaur?”‘

Original red Wiggle Murray, 63, finished with: ‘Producers said, “Your videos make us cringe.”‘

The movie is directed by experienced documentary filmmaker Sally Aitkin who said she was ‘stunned and deeply moved by aspects of [The Wiggles] story’.

After dissecting the history and rise of the popular children’s entertainment group, the documentary will also touch on the numerous lineup changes.

Jeff, Murray and Greg all stepped down for various reasons over the years and gave way for new talent to emerge and take on their world-famous skivvies.

The world premiere of Hot Potato will take place at SXSW Sydney in a few weeks with the documentary officially releasing on October 24 on Amazon Prime Video.
