Diana Ross is one of the music industry’s biggest icons – but the 73-year-old’s enormous talent was very nearly overshadowed at this year’s American Music Awards by her very bizarre choice of red carpet ensemble.
The singer arrived at the awards show – where she is performing and receiving a lifetime achievement award – with a number of her family members, including her son, actor Evan Ross, 29, his wife, singer Ashlee Simpson, and their two-year-old daughter Jagger Snow, as well as Diana’s 45-year-old daughter Tracee Ellis Ross who is hosting tonight’s awards.
But despite the group’s unbelievable star power, it was Diana’s Gothic-inspired outfit that stole the show; the grandmother wore a strapless black dress, which was cinched in at the waist with a large leather belt and looked as though it was in desperate need of a good steam. She then accessorized the look with an enormous black headpiece, and a long black veil.

The end result was a very Halloween-esque look that resembled something Morticia Addams might wear at a costume party.
But Diana was certainly not the only star to suffer such a grave fashion faux pas on the red carpet at the awards ceremony, which is being held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
