‘There was always drinks involved… and plenty of cigarettes’: Stu Laundy on dating Sophie Monk

Stu Laundy won Sophie Monk’s heart on The Bachelorette last year, but it was not quite the fairytale romance he was hoping for.

Speaking to Who magazine on Thursday, the 45-year-old millionaire claimed the former couple’s lifestyles just didn’t match.

‘Whenever Sophie and I saw each other, there was always a fair few drinks involved,’ he said. ‘Part of that is her life… That whole world, the socialising, alcohol and plenty of cigarettes.’

Stu also said that, contrary to reports, his ‘partying’ was not a factor in the break-up.

‘I was not a party boy. If I’m having a few drinks I’ll have a cigarette or two. Luckily for me, I’ve never taken it up full-time,’ he added.

Stu and Sophie publicly split just six months after filming The Bachelorette finale.

Since his bust up with Sophie, it would appear that Stu has struggled to deal with the baggage of that ill-fated relationship.

Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph recently, the handsome pub heir revealed that his love life had slowed down since he appeared on The Bachelorette.

‘I am not dating anyone, I am happily single,’ Stu told the publication.

‘That show slowed me right down and now I am happily single.’

Indeed, Stu has turned his attentions to boxing of late as he prepares to step into the ring to fight Sonny Bill Williams, 33, for charity.

He has been training with former boxing champion Jeff Fenech for the bout which is scheduled to take place in December this year.
