When you Google ‘Kay Manuel’ the first thing that comes up is the news stories.
‘Porn star evicted after Schoolies stunt.’ ‘OnlyFans star beds 55 Schoolies in one day.’ You know, the sort of scandalous coverage that saw Bonnie Blue’s visa torn up.
The next thing that comes up is, well, her adult content – mainly collaborations with recent high school graduates and ‘spontaneous encounters’ with Uber drivers.
And if you keep clicking through the search results you get to the rumours.
Yes, the rumours. There are people out there who claim to have evidence that Kay – who says she has slept with 75 teenage school leavers in her first week on the Gold Coast – is a transgender woman.
When I meet with Kay at a café near her accommodation, she squirms at the mention of it, but I get the feeling she knew the question was coming. After all, there have been blogs, Reddit posts and YouTube videos about her supposedly being born male.
She firmly denies the gossip – and tells me where the hurtful rumour came from.
‘I think it is because I have a deep voice,’ she explains, adding that if she were trans she would not conceal it.

‘If I was trans, of course I would be communicating that with the men I film with.’
When I present her with photos from an old Facebook account of a young man who online sleuths claim is Kay in a former life, she laughs and says the resemblance is just a coincidence.
‘We look very, very similar, but no, that’s not me… and no, I am not trans.’
She also says there’s ‘no truth’ to claims she was nominated for ‘best transgender porn star’ for two years running at an industry awards show.
Kay tells me it was a mistake on the part of the show organisers.
‘I talked to the awards about it, yeah, and they just said that it was false because I didn’t win anything,’ she clarifies.
With the false rumours out of the way – and it is not suggested otherwise – our chat turns towards a more familiar controversy: the OnlyFans stars – including Kay, Bonnie Blue and Annie Knight – filming content with teenage boys at events like Schoolies, Freshers’ Week and Spring Break.
These ‘barely legal’ group sex events have led to accusations of ‘predatory’ behaviour with some critics saying the 18- and 19-year-old boys taking part don’t fully understand what they are consenting to.

But Kay, who has already bedded dozens of Schoolies this week, disagrees. She tells me the consent process is a lot more involved than just ticking a box and signing a form.
Participants must provide identification showing they are over 18, undertake a sobriety test, and sign multiple consent forms for the different platforms Kay uses to distribute her adult content. They can also conceal their identity and have the option to withdraw permission once filming has concluded.
‘What a lot of people don’t know is that my content is filmed during the day because Schoolies need to be sober to film,’ she explains.
‘Consent is a really big thing so I understand why people are outraged by it.
‘There is an initial meeting – basically a consultation – and I have all the different consent forms laid out and it takes between 20 to 40 minutes to get through that paperwork.’

The men have the option to show as little or as much of their bodies as they want during the scene, which means they can remain semi-anonymous.
She says eight out of 10 men opt to keep their face and identifiable tattoos disguised. The teens who take part also receive the footage afterwards so they can see for themselves if they are identifiable.
‘The men have the right not to go through with filming, and I have turned a guy away before because I didn’t think he was continuously consenting even though he was saying yes to everything,’ adds Kay.
If a participant changes their mind during or after filming, they can withdraw their consent and the footage featuring them will not be shared. If it has already been posted, it will be edited or removed.
‘I had two men I filmed with last year applying for government jobs who contacted me asking me not to post the footage, so I didn’t,’ she tells me.
Kay’s around-the-clock operation involves more than just herself; she employs 25 people, including videographers, assistants and security.
She explains content creating is more about self-marketing and administration than actual sex work. Health and safety also takes up a lot of her time.
‘I take [STI] tests every day. The industry standard is fortnightly but I do so every day,’ she tells me.
Right as she says this, she notices semen on her arm and casually tells me it’s ‘left over from the 20 men I filmed with this morning’.
She continues: ‘Thankfully I haven’t had an STI in 16 months – that’s before last year’s Schoolies.’
Looking to the future, Kay hopes to continue working in Australia and the U.S., pushing boundaries with her content. She also has plans to use some of her six-figure income to buy an investment property.
‘I joined OnlyFans the day I turned 18 and it was the best decision of my life,’ she concludes. ‘I am money-hungry and sexual.’
