Thibaut Courtois ‘leaves Real Madrid training in tears after suffering ACL injury and is likely to miss the ENTIRE 2023-24 season’… with the Spanish giants already making contact with David de Gea to replace him

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has suffered an ACL injury that could potentially rule him out for the entire season, according to reports.

The Belgian international will now undergo surgery for the problem which was sustained during a Madrid training session.

According to The Athletic, there are hopes in Spain that Courtois will be line for a return to the pitch April but there are also fears that his season is already over.

Multiple outlets have claimed that the Belgian goalkeeper left the training pitch in tears after sustaining the nasty injury.

The Spanish giants have moved quickly to replace the former Chelsea man, with Sky Sports reporting that the club have made contact with David de Gea’s representatives.

De Gea left Manchester United on a free transfer this summer after the Red Devils lowered an already agreed contract offer with the expiration in sight.

Courtois  has been a constant feature in Madrid’s side since joining the club in 2018.

During that time, he’s made 230 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos and has won two La Liga titles and a Champions League trophy.

The injury also throws into doubt his availability for the European Champions next year, with national team boss Domenico Tedesco left with a big decision to make.

However, his place in the Belgian squad was far from guaranteed after his public disagreement over the national team captaincy.

In June, Courtois reportedly failed to arrive for Belgium duty after Romelu Lukaku was named captain ahead of him for their draw with Austria.

In the absence of usual skipper Kevin De Bruyne, Lukaku led the Red Devils with Courtois passed over for the role in a pre-planned move by head coach Domenico Tedesco. Instead, the goalkeeper was set to be captain against Estonia.

However, Courtois took exception to the decision and was not present when the squad gathered at their hotel to begin preparations for their next Euro 2024 qualifier.
