Bizarre footage has been released showing a hooded thief crawling along the floor of a shopping centre in an unsuccessful attempt to go undetected.
CCTV footage cameras captured the man breaking into the South Australian Westfield shopping centre and crawling along the floor, before forcibly gaining entry to a shop inside.
The footage was taken at a shopping plaza at West Lakes, Adelaide, shortly before 12.30am on Thursday January 11.

While inside the centre, the hooded thief stole cash from two stores, the police reported on Wednesday.
In the footage, the man is seen pulling on security gates so hard, the force knocks him to the ground.
He is then seen sliding what appears to be a safe, across the floor towards his escape.
The thief was seen wearing a black hooded top, black tracksuit pants with white stripes, a black face mask, black cap and green gloves.
South Australia Police urged anyone with information about the break-in to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
