Johanna Konta crashed-out in the opening round of Roland Garros on Monday, knocked-out by a ferocious Sorana Cirstea in straight sets.
The British No.1 led Cirstea – who beat her at the US Open last summer – early in the first set before appearing to dip in confidence after losing the first set 7-6, with the world No.54 steaming forward in Paris via a 6-2 victory in the second set.
She followed countrywoman Heather Watson out in the opening round, as Konta’s season went from bad to worse.
