Thirty-three children and three adults are hospitalized by mystery illness at Florida summer camp

Thirty-three children and three adults have been hospitalized after being hit with a sudden illness at a Florida summer camp.

The bizarre sickness took over the Clover Leaf 4H camp in Lake Placid sending children to the hospital after they suffered headaches and vomiting. 

The victims said they felt nauseous and one individual passed out, prompting a 911 call, according to CBS.

Highlands County fire and EMS crew responded to the incident, stating that the victims are all in stable condition. 

‘Highlands County Fire & EMS crews are working a “mass casualty incident” at the Clover Leaf 4H camp in Lake Placid. More than 17 children are being evaluated for illnesses, w/numerous area hospital transport. None appear to be serious – more info to come,’ the Fire and Rescue unit tweeted Monday evening. 

That number later hiked up to 33 children and three adults. 

Authorities say the situation is stable but there is ‘no cause identified or suspected at this point’.

Following the exodus of sick children, some 50 youth remain at the camp. 

The children hailed from Charlotte, Desoto, Sarasota, Palm Beach, Broward and Miami Dade. 

Clover Leaf Camp 4H is yet to reply to Dailymail.com’s request for comment. 

The summer camp features cabins and outdoor facilities and offers activities such as swimming, campfires, and swimming.
