This is my ‘hygiene hack’ for smelling fresh and clean all day – even while you are hot and sweaty in summer

A young woman has revealed her top hygiene tips for how to smell and feel ‘fresh’ and clean all day – even in sweltering heat.

Ali Rose Gray, from Melbourne, revealed that she often struggles with sweat and slight body odour during the summer.

As a result, she has perfected her ‘rosy’ aroma routine – beginning with soap bars, special deodorant, ‘unique’ dry shampoo, and oral hygiene hacks.

‘Nothing bothers me more than when someone recommends how to smell good and it’s a bunch of different smelling products,’ Ali first revealed. ‘Honey, you’re a walking headache!’

Which is why Ali typically reaches for fragrance-free cleaning products for everyday use.

‘I’m a certified sweaty girl and I smell when I sweat – so you have to start with the base,’ she said in a video.

Ali double cleanses in the shower – so she uses hard soap as well as a liquid body wash.

‘My advice is to lather it up under your armpits, then go in with a face towel and scrub. The liquid soap is your second line of defence.’

She uses Dermaveen ($19) on her body because it doesn’t have a fragrance, and focuses on the areas that get particularly sweaty – such as her armpits, palms, soles of her feet, and back.

Ali uses the Rexona clinical protection set ($15) every day after her shower

The Living Proof dry shampoo ($48) cleans your hair and also keeps it grease-free

Ali recommends the Salt & Stone roll-on ($33) deodorant for people who like natural products

Following the double cleanse, Ali also uses a roll-on deodorant and a spray.

‘I use the Rexona clinical protection set ($15) because it smells nice but also works well,’ she said.

‘For those who are more into natural deodorant – the Salt & Stone roll-on ($33) got me through a five-hour Pilates class, a flight to Sydney, an event, and I didn’t smell at all after. Isn’t that insane?’

In terms of keeping her hair smelling fresh, Ali frequents the gym several times a week but only washes her hair once every seven days – which is why she swears by cleansing dry shampoo.

‘The Living Proof dry shampoo ($48) is one of the only products that cleans your hair when you apply it, it’s not just making it drier.

‘There’s nothing worse than heading into the office after a gym session – and you’ve had a shower but your hair smells.’

Brands like Evo and Batiste also have budget cleansing dry shampoos available at Woolworths and Chemist Warehouse.

Ali revealed that TheraBreath ($16) is 'one of the best things to combat morning breath'

When it comes to oral hygiene, Ali revealed that bargain product TheraBreath ($16) is ‘one of the best things to combat morning breath and not just cover it’

When it comes to oral hygiene, Ali revealed that bargain product TheraBreath ($16) is ‘one of the best things to combat morning breath and not just cover it’.

‘It doesn’t taste too minty but you feel so clean after using it,’ she said.

She also recommends keeping a breath spray in your purse to ‘freshen up’ after mealtimes.

‘I use teeth whitening strips from Coles or Woolies every day until I’m happy with how white my teeth are – and then just once in a while to top them up,’ she added.
