This is what 52 looks like

  • Dene Moore, 52, says dancing and meeting new people keeps her young
  • She also believes maintaining thick hair enhances her ageless appearance
  • To stay slim she regularly drinks a spoonful of unfiltered cider vinegar

Dene Moore lives in London. She is a model and part-time receptionist at a law firm.

GET THICKER HAIR

Your hair is the one thing that can keep you youthful or age you terribly. Mine used to be very thick, but it started thinning when I hit the menopause. So, I tried Taya Amazon White Clay Advanced Blend Thickening Clay (£22.50, qvcuk.com). It took several uses to see a difference, but it does look fuller. I feel like my old self again.

CIDER VINEGAR CHEAT

At 51, I was a size 14-16 but wanted to lose weight. A modelling friend suggested raw organic unfiltered cider vinegar. It’s thought to speed up weight loss by making you feel fuller and helping digestion. I now drink a spoonful in hot water each morning — and I’m down to a size 12. Try Aspall Raw Organic Cyder Vinegar with The Mother (£3.59, Holland and Barrett).

NECK WRINKLE BUSTER

I have two prominent horizontal lines on my neck, which have got worse with age. I’m very aware of them. The best way I’ve found to reduce the appearance is with Judith Williams LLB Neck & Decollete Cream (£26, curabeauty.com). I rub it in twice daily. It has a hydrating soya formula, which easily absorbs into the skin.

KEEP PARTYING

I am confident but have become more self-conscious with age. I used to work as a TV presenter on the red carpet, where I met stars like Matt Damon. Now I look back and wonder how I did it. But I still try to go out regularly with friends: I love dressing up, dancing and meeting new people — laughter is the best medicine. I even met my new partner at a club.

TAKE AN ADULT GAP YEAR

It is important to recognise burn-out and put your wellbeing first. At 49, I was working in PR and over-tired: so, I quit my job and went to Thailand for two months. I lived in a beach bungalow, washed in rainwater and went back to basics. It gave me time to reflect. I’ve since changed career to follow my passion for modelling, I’ve downsized and I travel more. I feel much happier doing what I love.
