This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford’s ‘kind and gentle’ sister, 62, hanged herself in family garage after previous battles with depression, inquest hears

  • An inquest today heard she killed herself following a battle with mental illness  

The sister of This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford hanged herself at her family home after a long battle with depression, an inquest heard today. 

Julia Johnson was found dead in the garage of her home in Lingfield, Surrey. 

Ruth and her TV presenter husband Eamonn Holmes told viewers her sister had died ‘after a long illness’ in June. 

At the time Ruth took a break from presenting and tweeted: ‘My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken. 

‘She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever. 

‘As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding.’
