TV vet Doctor Scott Miller has been rushed to hospital after suffering from severe back pain that left him unable to stand.

The This Morning star, who was dressed in a white and green medical gown, shared a health update from his hospital bed on Tuesday following a night in A&E.

Australian-born Dr Scott, who moved to the UK after finding fame on Aussie TV’s hit show Animal Hospital, badly injured his back days after celebrating his 49th birthday.

Scott told his Instagram followers: ‘I’m having a bit of a tough time. I’ve really injured my back and can’t stand up at the moment. Currently I’m in a lot of pain and have spent the night in A&E.

‘The staff have been amazing, so attentive and kind as I received pain medication, examinations and soon an MRI for the worst back pain I’ve ever experienced in my life.

‘This is not a pity party or a sympathy request, rather a grateful post for the kindness and humanity I’ve witnessed and experienced since my admission to hospital.

‘I was quick to realise that at least 95% of the health professionals and support staff who have cared for me while I’ve been here have been of foreign descent and there is no way this hospital could run without them.

‘After watching the 10 o’clock news from my hospital bed last night it pained me (even more than my current state!) to see all the rioting going on at the moment here in the UK.’

‘If there is nothing else to unite us here in the UK, it is the incredible free health care we receive from the NHS.’

Scott, who shares four children with his wife Zoe, 45, added: ‘And now to my MRI. Thanks to @nhsengland and all the amazing staff.’

Fans wished Scott a speedy recovery in the comment section, with one penning: ‘Sorry to hear you’re in pain, wishing you a speedy recovery! Our NHS are the best!’

‘Sorry to hear you’re in such pain. Even when you’re not well you’re still always thinking and caring about others. Hope the mri gives you the answers and it’s not too serious and you’re feeling better soon. Take things slowly’;

‘Sending love and best wishes for a speedy recover’;
