This Morning viewers were left baffled when an Adele tribute act was ‘neither a lookalike nor a soundalike’ – and even forgot her lines partway through her performance.
Maria Herriott, 43, from London, who has gone so far as to have cosmetic surgery in order to look more like her idol, including a gastric bypass costing £11,000, appeared on ITV’s This Morning on the day that the Hello singer released Easy On Me after a six-year hiatus.
The impersonator, who has shed 8st in total, after being 23 and a half stone at her heaviest, also revealed to presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary that she is planning further surgery on her arms to have excess skin removed.
But despite her undeniable vocal talent, those who tuned in were left both confused and amused as Maria’s appearance was teased throughout the show, before commenting she ‘didn’t look anything like Adele’.

ITV were not able to secure the real Adele (pictured, on Saturday Night Live), so Maria appeared on the show instead
Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: ‘When you order Adele from wish,’ while a second added: ‘Neither a lookalike nor a soundalike.’
And the comments continued when Maria sat on the sofa and belted out a few lines from Adele’s new track Easy On Me – but forgot the words.
‘She could’ve sang a song she knows so she doesn’t embarrass herself,’ wrote one, while a second penned: ‘Adele tribute forgetting the words is TV gold.’
A third added: ‘Fake Adele forgetting the words to Adele’s new song is amazing.’

Another commented: ‘What…the…hell…was…that,’ while a further branded the interview a ‘car crash.’
Alison jumped in with her rendition of the chorus, while Dermot sat there with his head in his hands.
‘The thing is with Adele’s music, she’s so unique so when she does those…you really have to perfect that,’ said Maria. ‘So, I can’t just come in and break into chorus and make myself look like a fool.
‘You’ve had a couple of lines, nerves got me, Adele’s probably laughing at me. Sorry to let you down.
Host Alison reassured her: ‘You absolutely didn’t.’
Maria also went on to discuss her cosmetic surgery, with Dermot questioning: ‘Can I ask, are you doing this for you and your health?’
‘Yeah, it was already on the cards having it done,’ Maria said. ‘And when we saw the pictures of Adele, I sped the process up.’
Dermot added: ‘What’s the motivation there? Why did you speed the process up, because you saw the pictures of Adele?’
Despite her undeniable vocal talent, those who tuned in were left both confused and amused as Maria’s appearance was teased throughout the show, before commenting she ‘didn’t look anything like Adele’ (pictured)
She replied: ‘Because I felt a huge amount of embarrassment if I’m going to be completely and utterly honest with you.’
Maria also revealed that she will be going under the knife again, adding: ‘So my brother owns a hair transplant company over in Turkey, I’m going to go into his cosmetic surgery and be a guinea pig.
‘Arms and tummy. I’ve got a lot of excess skin on my arms, it’s not too bad on my tummy.’
‘My arms for me are my biggest worry, so my brother’s company are going to fund my surgery for arms and tummy – and see what else needs doing while I’m under!’
