Thomas Frank rubbishes talk he is close to leaving Brentford and insists he is ‘very happy’ in west London… despite being ‘top of Leicester’s list’ if they sack boss Brendan Rodgers

  • Manager Thomas Frank has rebuffed talk that he is close to leaving Brentford
  • Frank has plenty of admirers and has been linked to a potential Leicester switch
  • Brendan Rodgers is under pressure at Leicester and Frank is said to be admired
  • Frank is not reading ‘rumours’ and is ‘very happy’ with his situation at Brentford

Thomas Frank has rebuffed any suggestion he is close to leaving Brentford and said he is reading ‘very, very little’ of rumours linking him with Leicester.

Pressure is mounting on Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers as they sit bottom of the table, winless and are still reeling from a 6-2 drubbing by Tottenham.

But Frank, despite talk he is admired internally at Leicester, is ‘very happy’ with his situation at Brentford.

Thomas Frank is refusing to read ‘rumours’ about his future as he is ‘very happy’ at Brentford

‘Very simple. I’m here, with Brentford, very happy,’ Frank said when quizzed about his future after Sunday’s loss to Arsenal.

‘I can’t speak for the players and I’m reading very, very little of these rumours.

‘Of course, it’s nice that someone is linking me because that means that something we have done here has, meant that a lot of the time, the staff and the players have done well.’

It was not too long ago that Frank made a show of commitment to Brentford in the form of a new deal.

Brendan Rodgers is under mounting pressure following Leicester’s 6-2 loss at Tottenham

In January he signed a new three-year contract, which is not up for expiry until 2025.

Nonetheless, The Sun claim highly-rated Frank is top of Leicester’s list of potential replacements if Rodgers gets the axe.

Frank’s stock has soared in recent years for the work he has done in establishing Brentford as a Premier League side.

The 48-year-old took the Bees to the Premier League in 2020-21 for the first time in their history, through the Championship play-offs.

He has been in charge of the west London club since 2018 and has established an eye-catching style of play, which has seen him win admirers throughout the league.

Leicester are reportedly weighing up whether to stick or twist with Rodgers over this international break given it will cost more than £10million to sack him and they must abide by Financial Fair Play regulations.

Speaking after defeat to Tottenham, Rodgers conceded: ‘I know how football works and I totally understand the frustration of the supporters. I cannot hide from that because it’s my responsibility.

‘Losing the last six games doesn’t make great reading but whatever happens to me here at Leicester, I will always respect this club.’
