Four people have been arrested after detonating a pipe bomb in a park in regional New South Wales.

Police charged four people, three men and one woman, over the incident at a sports field earlier this month.

Officers raided the homes of the individuals and found items used to manufacture military-style weapons.

NSW Police attended the scene at a field in Wellington, roughly 350 kilometres north-west of Sydney.

They were called to the park on the corner of Simpson and Gisborne Streets on December 1 after reports of an explosion.

Officers found fragments of a crudely put-together pipe bomb which had been detonated. They then searched the homes of the four people arrested and found several prohibited items including weapons and drugs.

A 23-year-old man was charged with manufacturing military style prohibited weapon, possess prohibited drug and breach weapons prohibition order. Another man, 21, was also charged with manufacturing military style prohibited weapon.

They were both refused bail in Welling Local Court on Wednesday, and will face the same court in February.

The woman, 23, was charged with manufacturing military-style weapon without a permit and was granted conditional bail. She will face court in Janury.

Another 18-year-old man was possess explosive device and manufacturing military style prohibited weapon and denied bail. He will face court Thursday.
