Three quarters of Brits admit being left heartbroken by celebrity splits… but which famous break-up devastated YOU the most?

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s divorce was the most devastating celebrity split for Britons, a survey has found.

Some 17 per cent of respondents said they were upset when rumours began circulating in 2004 of an affair between Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr And Mrs Smith.

Bruce Willis’s 1998 split from Demi Moore took second place, research agency Perspectus Global found, with 16 per cent left heartbroken. 

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman’s 2001 break-up was a close third with 15 per cent.

Three-quarters of the participants admitted to feeling down after learning of a high-profile separation.

And a quarter also found themselves questioning their own relationships in the aftermath.

This summer, several of the nation’s favourite couples hit the headlines after splitting up.

Love Island stars Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury announced their break-up earlier this month, shocking fans of the ITV show and 8 per cent of those surveyed.

Elsewhere, former This Morning hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes’s split in May was voted the most devastating of the year – pulling in 12 per cent of the vote.
