Three survive plane crash into Virginia home

  • Middlesex County Sheriff David Bushey said the single-engine plane took off just before 9 am Saturday from Hummel Field Airport in Topping, Virginia 
  • Two adults and a juvenile were on board but no one was at the home at the time 
  • Bushey says the people on board the plane were taken to Rappahannock General Hospital and have since been released
  • The plane will be removed on Sunday 

Authorities say a small plane crashed into a home in Virginia and the three people on board survived with minor injuries.

Middlesex County Sheriff David Bushey said the single-engine plane took off just before 9am Saturday from Hummel Field Airport in Topping, about an hour east of Richmond.

Two adults and a juvenile were on board but no one was at the home at the time.

The station reports the pilot lost control, flew between two trees, and crashed into the home in Middlesex County.

A photo of the scene showed extensive damage.

The owner of the home does not reside there or in the area. 

Bushey says the people on board the plane were taken to Rappahannock General Hospital and have since been released.

The plane was making its way up the East Coast, when it crashed. 

It will be removed from the area on Sunday.
