British singer and songwriter Raye has revealed that she’s not making much money from her music, despite having been nominated for three Grammy Awards recently.
The 27-year-old star, who was born Rachel Keen, has admitted that she’s ‘breaking even’ when it comes to her finances and releasing new songs.
In an interview with Business Insider, Raye said: ‘There’s ways to make quick cash and there’s ways to make a profit.
‘And trust me when I tell you, I’m not taking those ways,’ she continued, before adding: ‘We’re breaking even and it’s beautiful.’
She then said: ‘I’m putting out a piece of music that I’m really proud of, with the roll-out plan that I wanted.’
Earlier this month, the singer broke down in tears of joy after learning she had received her first ever Grammy nominations.
Raye is up for three awards at music’s biggest awards ceremony, getting nominations for Best New Artist, Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
It’s the latest success for Raye who took home six gongs at the Brit Awards earlier this year, beating Blur, Adele and Harry Styles’ record four wins at a Brits ceremony.

Sharing a clip on Instagram, Raye could be seen getting emotional as she learned over the phone that she had been nominated.
Alongside the video, she wrote: ‘God knows all it took to get here. This is too much i can’t stop crying.’
The London-born star is certainly bringing in some money from her music career as she recently splashed out on a $2.5 million mansion in Los Angeles as she sets her sights on cracking America.
The very quirky six-bedroom home has murals daubed on the walls.
Raye has also treated herself to a huge swimming pool at the lavish property which she plans to spend a lot of time at while working on new music.
A source told The Sun: ‘Raye has invested in a new place in LA and she wants to wait to put her touch on it.
‘It’s a really fun house and is whacky inside and out, which perfectly fits her personality. There are massive murals on the walls and internally it’s all bright and mismatched. It’s bananas but Raye loved it.
‘She intends to spend a lot more time working on music in the States and having her own place while she is out there makes perfect sense. Buying the house tops off what has been an incredible year for her.’

Raye has reportedly earned five times more this year than last, thanks to the mega success of her debut album, My 21st Century Blues.
Raye’s recent success comes after she parted ways with her former label, Polydor, and released her critically acclaimed debut My 21st Century Blues as an independent artist. She referenced her new beginning in her Best New Artist Speech.
‘I have to thank my mum and my dad who are also part of my team, and my grandma. Yes grandma! I, in ways, do feel like a new artist. I released my first song when I was 15, my first mixtape when I was 16, don’t go and listen to it because it’s not that good any more.’
‘But I do feel like a new artist, I got to start again. The artist I was three years ago would not believe what she’s seeing today. I’m my own boss now, I’m in control. Thank you!’
