The food Australia’s athletes require as they chase Olympic gold in Paris has been revealed – and it is nothing short of staggering.

From three tonnes of tuna to 10,000 muesli bars, the likes of star basketballer Patty Mills and pool queen Emma McKeon won’t go hungry come July 26.

Throw in 20,000 shots of coffee and 340kg in rice and it is quickly apparent nothing has been left to chance.

Then you have the 115,000 items of clothing – and 80,000 metres of bandage tape tipped to be used.

‘Our logistics team has been very, very busy,’ Australia’s chef de mission, Anna Meares said.

‘We have also booked over 3000 flights and booked over 21,000 nights of accommodation.

‘All the equipment that’s being shipped includes horses, boats, pole vaults, rifles, let alone the food and the uniforms.’

Australia will send 460 athletes to the Games  – 256 women and 204 men – to compete in 33 sports, with gold medal chances in swimming, canoe slalom and rowing.

Six Aussie athletes  – basketballers Patrick Mills, Lauren Jackson and Joe Ingles, equestrian star Edwina Tops-Alexander, hockey veteran Eddie Ockenden plus diver Melissa Wu – are set to feature at their fifth Games.

At 51, equestrian legend Shane Rose is the team’s oldest athlete, while 14-year-old gun skateboarder Arisa Trew is the youngest.

In April, Australia’s Olympic uniforms were officially unveiled – and they are guaranteed to be head-turners.

The classic green has made way for a trendy teal offering, with the blazers to be worn over tank tops or white T-shirts, while stone chino shorts also feature teal and gold details.

‘We were a little bit sceptical when it was hanging on the rack but now that it’s on, I like it,’ water polo player Tilly Kearns said at the time.

‘It’s quite preppy. It’s not often that you get to feel feminine as an athlete.’

The Aussie stars will also wear iconic white Dunlop Volley sneakers.
