Fuyang firefighters used hydraulic press to lift up the canvas that fell onto the car in order to reduce the pressure on the small vehicle.
Then they removed the parts by a hydraulic shear cutter and freed the trapped passengers and the driver.
The trio got out safely after 20 minutes.
The driver recalled that she slowed down the car while approaching the junction. Later she came to a complete stop.
However, a lorry approached from the opposite side and the driver applied brake while trying to turn left.
