Tiffiny Hall shares self-defence moves women should know

She’s the Australian celebrity trainer who can really pack a punch after whipping her contestants into shape on The Biggest Loser.

And now Tiffiny Hall, 33, who hails form Melbourne, has revealed the simple self-defence moves every woman should know.

Writing for Body&Soul, the young mother-of-one shared her easy-to-remember defence tactics by following the acronym ASAP first.

A – ATTRACT ATTENTION 

She explained using our voice as an ‘alarm’ fends off the attacker.

S – SEND A CLEAR VOCAL MESSAGE

To get instant attention, Tiffiny said simply yelling out ‘help!” would allow people to know you are in danger.

A – ACT, DON’T FREEZE

She urged not to freeze in these situation because you may have just seconds to act.

P – POWER

Tiffiny said it was important to breathe out so you are ‘not winded as you strike’ and allow yourself a chance to think.

‘Create a spectacle. Make some noise. Show the attacker you are tough and brave, full of power and strength,’ she said.

And if these moves still don’t get you out of danger, she revealed other strategies to follow so you can defend yourself.

She advised to use a 'hard weapon' on your body such as an elbow, fist, heel or knee to hit a soft target on the attacker's body groin, eyes or throat

‘A finger to the eye is a hard weapon to soft target, just as effective as stomping your hard heel into the attacker’s soft toes,’ she said.

By putting your hands up in guard position, Tiffiny said this move could indicate to the attacker you have martial arts training, which is not ideal.

‘[This] can ruin the element of surprise and can provoke aggression,’ she said.

She said always throw a punch to the throat instead of the face and kick effectively to the groin.

‘A more effective way of kicking to the groin, is to kick up and under with your straight leg and to strike with your shin,’ she said.
