Tiger Woods has announced he is set to play at the Masters next week in a stunning post on social media – but fans quickly realized all is not as it seems.

The golf legend, who recently underwent surgery, wrote on X: ‘I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See y’all on the course.’

However, a number of users were quick to point out that Woods’ post, of course, came on April Fool’s Day.

‘I know the date you can’t fool me,’ one fan replied.

Another commented: ‘Hard April Fools here bud. Can’t do this to our souls.’

A third put: ‘Tiger’s got April fools jokes’.

While one admitted: ‘i hate that i believed this for a second’.

Woods, 49, then came clean five minutes later after clarifying that he will not be returning to the course in Augusta next week.

‘P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess :),’ he posted.

Woods underwent surgery last month after rupturing his Achilles tendon while at home in Florida, which has cast fresh doubt over his future in golf.

The 15-time major winner was preparing for his latest comeback when he felt a ‘sharp pain’ in his left heel, before he went under the knife on March 11.
