TikTok influencer discovers rug in river which he claims could be linked to murder of Jennifer Dulos

A TikTok influencer sparked a police investigation after finding a stained rug in a river which he believes could be linked to the disappearance of Connecticut mother Jennifer Dulos.

Dulos, 50, a mother-of-five is missing and presumed dead after vanishing in May 2019 amid a bitter divorce and custody battle with her estranged husband Fotis Dulos.

He was charged with her murder and kidnap despite no body ever being found and committed suicide on January 30, 2020.

The couple had been embroiled in a two-year long custody battle over their children, after being married for 13 years.

TikTok star Sean Austin, who describes himself a paranormal investigator, a psychic-medium and demonologist, discovered the rug not far from a house where Fotis had previously lived.

Austin reported the rug to authorities on Sunday, who immediately descended on the area in an attempt to find any missing evidence.

He claims that ‘supernatural evidence’ led them the spot on the riverbank, with the rug appearing to have a vertical stain in the centre of it.

In a video posted on Sunday he said: ‘We did a little investigation here with scuba divers in the Farmington River, and we found something shady, possibly having to do with the case of Jennifer Dulos.’

State police last year searched a home in Farmington which belonged to her husband, after ruling that he attacked and killed her on 24 May 2019.

His former girlfriend Michell Troconis and former lawyer Kent Mawhinney have each pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit murder in relation to the case.

Both are free on bond while they await trial, and Troconis has also pleaded not guilty to charges of tampering with evidence and hindering a prosecution.

Dulos is presumed dead after police found evidence of a serious assault which took place in the garage of her New Canaan home, after dropping her children off to school.

Investigators found bags of itemas which included Dulos’ blood and DNA disposed in Hartford, but some evidence was never found.

A piece of carpet, believed to be from her SUV, was also never found by detectives looking into the case.

In divorce documents before her death, Dulos said she knew the filing would enrage her husband.

She claimed that he would ‘retaliate by trying to harm her in some way’ and claimed that he exhibited ‘irrational, unsafe, bullying, threatenign and controlling behaviour.’

According to court documents she said: ‘I am afraid for my safety and the physical safety and emotional well-being of our minor children.’

Hundreds of pages of search warrants revealed how police found large stains of Dulos’ blood in her garage, spattered on trash cans and in her master bedroom along with bombshell interviews from their children’s nanny.

Her estranged husband continued to deny his involvement in her death up until he committed suicide.

documents state that it is ‘strongly believed’ Jennifer was attacked in the garage of her home in New Canaan soon after she had finished the school run.

Police believe she was then put in her own Chevrolet Suburban 2017 to be driven to the spot where the car was eventually found.

In the car, they found her phone which had been active in the location where the car was left for 40 minutes before suddenly going offline.

In those 40 minutes, Fotis – who had earlier been seen in Connecticut driving an employee’s car – was nowhere to be seen.

Three minutes after Jennifer’s phone went offline, he was seen turning back onto a road, in the same employee’s car he’d been driving earlier.

The search warrants do not give any indication of what may have happened to Jennifer’s body.

When authorities searched Jennifer’s home they found blood in the garage – which had been previously reported – but exactly where in the garage remained a secret until last week.

The new documents list that blood was found on the concrete floor of the garage, two garbage cans in the garage and on the passenger door of a Range Rover parked inside.

Police also found shoe impressions and said that someone had tried to clean up the blood.

Authorities reported finding traces of blood on a cell phone and a tablet that were discovered in the master bedroom of the home.
