TikTok influencer reveals she had lip filler injected after she was ‘bullied’ by trolls over her ‘thin’ mouth in her viral videos

  • Katylee Bailey, 19, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, shot to online fame last year
  • Trolls left a barrage of hateful comments on her videos about her appearance
  • After being taunted about the size of her lips influencer bowed to the pressure

A TikTok influencer who was bullied into getting filler by trolls who said her ‘lips were to thin’ says ‘constantly looking at herself’ on social media worsened her insecurities.

Katylee Bailey, 19, from Bradford, West Yorkshire shot to fame when she gained two million followers on the app last year – but soon began to receive a barrage of abuse.

Trolls left hateful comments on her videos about her appearance, taunting her about how thin her lips were and Katylee eventually bowed to the pressure and got filler injected into her lips.

But now, Katylee regrets having the procure, insisting she won’t have her lips re-filled once the treatment has worn off and urging other young people not to bow to pressure of social media trolls.

Katylee was eventually worn down by the hateful comments and had 1ml of lip filler inserted in June and a further 1ml a couple of months later at a cost of approximately £110 per procedure (pictured after filler)

The influencer says the bullying about her appearance started in school: ‘People always used to make comments about how thin lips weren’t attractive and how no one would want to date someone with thin lips.

‘People would make digs, some you could tell were directly aimed at me. But there was also a lot of content being shared online about needing bigger lips.’

When she joined TikTok she noticed that anonymous accounts were also pointing out her lips: ‘There’s also been comments on my social media. I’ve noticed as soon as you point out your insecurities people comment on it.

‘I made a video about my insecurities and I’ll never do that again because as soon as people know what they are that’s how they target you.

‘It’s absolutely awful receiving hate comments because that thought is planted in your head and you’re always looking to see what people may think or say about you.

‘I’m quite good at brushing it off but it’s upsetting to know how many people make comments like this and think it’s okay to comment on people’s appearance.

‘It made me feel so insecure about myself. I no longer post videos showing the side of my face because someone made negative comments about my nose.’

Katylee was eventually worn down by the hateful comments and had 1ml of lip filler inserted in June and a further 1ml a couple of months later at a cost of approximately £110 per procedure.

The influencer documented the procedure in a TikTok video that racked up 1.9 million views including hateful comments she had received previously about her lips before she revealed her new look.

She said: ‘Honestly, I would’ve never had any insecurity about my lips until people pointed it out. Once it started I would always look at my lips when doing my make up and try to over line my lips.

‘In my job as a content creator, you’re constantly looking at yourself or recording yourself so it became an insecurity.

‘Sometimes I regret having my lips done but it got to a point where in my head. I thought it would make me feel better.

‘I wanted to get it done for me, in the end, but it was a hard decision. I wanted to feel confident but also didn’t want my followers thinking that’s the option if they get nasty comments. I was very torn over my decision.’

She added: ‘My lips will go down. I got them done to see if I felt more confident but once this filler goes down I won’t get them re-filled.

‘I want to remind people that you should get these procedures done because you want to, but never let anyone pressure you into doing it.

‘I’m not going to get any more work done because now I realise I am enough. It’s the way I was born, I should love myself the way I am.’
