TikTok star Sopha Dopha breaks silence over Tony Armstrong controversy after THAT awkward encounter: ‘I could have vomited’

She’s the hugely popular influencer who went viral after a cringe-inducing encounter at last year’s TikTok Awards.

And Sophia Begg, 19, who is better known as Sopha Dopha, has responded to the controversy.

Dopha was slammed online after her encounter with host Tony Armstrong, which she now says was nothing more than a misunderstanding.

During the ceremony Armstrong approached Dopha for an on-camera comment after telling her she ‘looked ecstatic’ after she received a nomination for Creator of the Year Award.

Dopha replied: ‘Thank you, wow, stop flirting with me.’

Fans later accused her of not knowing the meaning of ‘ecstatic’, and speculated that she believed Armstrong was offering her a physical compliment, as in she ‘looked exquisite’.

Speaking to Stellar, Dopha now says she was ‘nervous’.

‘Honestly, I could have vomited on the mic,’ she explained.

‘We were in the front row and I wasn’t really briefed that someone would be coming across the front. I would have liked to have – not a script, but just some idea. Because when you’re so nervous, you somewhat need a script.’

She said that after Armstrong ‘roasted’ Andy Hearnden known as AndyCooks for being ‘boring’ she thought she was going to get ‘roasted’ too when the host turned to her for a comment.

‘So that’s the reason I said what I said – it was the first thing I could think of, it was so stupid. Also, the viral TikTok that was posted, they cut out the part where Tony said, ”You’re looking great tonight”, which is the reason I said what I said.’

Meanwhile, Sophia has sparked controversy on several occasions over the past few years.

In April last year, the blonde was forced to apologise after she dressed up as the stingray that killed Steve Irwin for an Australian-themed costume party.

Sophia’s choice of outfit had sparked outrage among her TikTok followers, who called her out for being ‘disrespectful’ to the Irwin family.

After being eviscerated by critics, Sophia issued a statement saying she ‘didn’t mean to offend anyone’ or ‘disrespect Steve’s family’.

In December last 2022, Sophia also sparked online backlash again after she sold $89 gift boxes to her Instagram followers.
