Amassing more than 2.9 million videos, the hashtag ‘revenge makeup’ is a complete contrast to another beauty trend known as ‘cold girl’ makeup – that sees users opting for a soft look.

Send your ex wincing in regret! How to achieve ‘revenge makeup’

  • Start by applying your favorite foundation and concealer
  • Contour your cheeks and add blush
  • Set your makeup with powder
  • Opt for a smoky eyeshadow complete with a dark eyeliner and long fluttery eyelashes
  • Apply a swipe of pink or red lipstick and gloss to your lips for a sexy pout

But the bold revenge makeup trend is made for scorned lovers who are hoping to send their exes into a deep stage of regret.

Revenge makeup demands a dramatic look complete with smoky eyeshadow, a bold and glossy lip shade, contoured cheeks and long, fluttery eyelashes.

Many TikTokers and beauty fans have shared videos that detail the step-by-step process to achieve the ultimate unapologetic look to cope with heartbreak.

Sophie Smith, from Montreal, Canada, shared her take on the revenge makeup that would have any past lover in a fit of tears.

Sporting golden curled locks, a little black dress and chic strappy heels, Sophie demanded attention when she began contouring her cheeks, and applied a swipe of pink gloss to her lips.

Speaking to the New York Post, Sophie explained that the beauty craze is all about feeling ‘confident’ and ’empowered’ when suffering from a broken heart.

‘It’s the perfect way to say [to an ex], you f***ed up, and now I’m going to take my power back,’ she said.

‘When I’m in revenge makeup, I feel like a bad b****, like my edginess demands a different level of respect,’ Sophie added.
