Tim Minchin has returned to Australia ‘forever’.
He spent the last ten-years in London and Los Angeles, where he achieved early success by penning score for Broadway hits such as Matilda.
Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald, Tim explained how some of his recent failures led him to admit he was in a state of ‘impotent fury and sadness’.
‘I’ve had such a terrible experience’: Comedian and singer Tim Minchin says he’s returned to Australia ‘forever’ after being chewed up and spit out by Hollywood
Most notably, he said, was the cancellation of his $100 million Dreamworks animation film, ‘Larrikins’ last year.
‘A couple of days ago, the animated film to which I’ve dedicated the last 4 years of my life was shut down by the new studio execs,’ he revealed at the time.
On top of that, Tim bemoaned: ‘I’ve recently been working in three different continents, missing my kids (Violet, 11, and Caspar, eight) a lot, sleeping too little and not playing piano enough.’
He told the publication his fortunes hadn’t necessarily brightened since the film fell through: ‘A day and a half ago, it was all crying kids and crying teachers’.
