Tina Arena gets brutally slammed by left-leaning ABC viewers ahead of a planned performance on Q+A – with angry Twitter mob labelling her ‘Scott Morrison’s girl’

Tina Arena is a favourite of Scott Morrison, with the former politician previously praising the singer publicly.

And it appears ABC viewers have a long memory, with the Chains singer coming under fire ahead of a planned performance on Q&A on Monday.

Tina, who has been outspoken politically, got taken to task by Twitter users who fumed at her inclusion on the left-leaning program.

‘Ah no, Tina was Scotty’s girl how about someone with a bit of credibility,’ one viewer wrote about Tina, who has sold 10 million records worldwide.

‘Perhaps with a duet with her #1 fan, the Member for Cook?’ yet another wrote. ‘Scotty on backup with the ukulele?’ another added.

The Sorrento Moon hitmaker, who has been charting in Australia since the early 1990s, endured even more anger from the viewers.

She previously spoke out against Melbourne’s harsh lockdowns, admitting she broke them, saying she broke the ‘five kilometre radius’ rule.

‘Queen of the cookers,’ one lashed out. ‘No thanks don’t watch anti-lockdown, anti-health people but she fits in with the Liberal ABC propaganda station.’

‘Really determined to get #QANDA cancelled aren’t they,’ yet another wrote. ‘Nope. And just when I thought Q and A was worth watching again.’

Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison was open about his love of Tina Arena, calling her his ‘favourite singer’ in the past.

During a radio interview with GOLD104.3 Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show in September 2020, Scott praised the singer.

‘I’m a huge Tina Arena fan,’ cooed the then Prime Minister when asked whether he had a song request for the station.

‘She’s my favourite Melburnian and she’s an amazing Australian artist. Overload, one of her recent albums, I’ve always enjoyed, but play me anything from Tina Arena and I’m happy,’ he added.

When quizzed on whether Tina is his ‘go-to artist’, the politician admitted: ‘I’ve got my Tina Arena playlist, all my favourites are on there.’

Tina has certainly become less favourable with ABC viewers after taking more conservative political positions during Covid.

During an interview with The Weekend Australia in July, the singer questioned the logic of Melbourne’s lengthy lockdowns and ‘radius rules’.

‘Why can’t you drive more than five kilometres? Guess what – watch me. So I did. I drove past my five kilometres. Am I a criminal now? You want to pull me up? Pull me up. You want to fine me? Fine me. I’m not the one with the issue here,’ she said.

‘The issue is, there is no logic. You have no right to do that. You are fining me. This is totalitarian. We don’t work like that.’

Tina took aim at the level of compliance with the rules, saying she remained outspoken during the lockdowns.

‘I didn’t hear anybody complaining during lockdown other than me: “Why are we locked up? Where’s your science? What? Why?” The fear was so much for me; it was choking me, I was like, I can’t cope with all of you being so fear-driven like this, and compliant,’ she said.

Tina will soon embark on her ‘Love Saves’ world tour which will include stops in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Adelaide.

The star will also have international dates including in New York, Los Angeles, Montreal, Paris and London.
