Tiny food chef gets Thanksgiving special on Food Network

An artistic chef has come up with a way to have Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings without piling on the pounds.

Jay Baron, the viral YouTube star based in Saint George, Utah, is launching a holiday special called Teeny Tiny Thanksgiving on Sunday at 10.30pm ET on the Food Network.

Baron, whose wife Lesley serves as sous chef, has built a devoted online following with his passion for cooking edible miniature meals.

It all began, Baron has said, when he found a tiny cast iron stove and skillets in his closet – an old gag gift from his grandfather, after he asked for a camping stove for his birthday.

The former theater set designer launched his YouTube channel devoted to mini food last year, and has sparked a trend that inspired others to get involved with tiny cooking.

His most popular video, of a mini Fourth of July cake, has gotten over 21million views since last summer.

‘To be honest I’m kind of weird, so I just want to be happy being weird,’ he has said on his YouTube channel, Walking With Giants.

‘I want to do what I want to do, how I want to do it, and create whatever I want. And that’s how I’ve always been and that’s how I’m always going to be. And I’m going to bring you guys along for that journey,’ he continued.

His videos are shot in a way to make the viewer feel that they are in a kitchen with a giant who is preparing meals for them.

‘I just want to let myself be creatively free and be an artist,’ Baron said.

Following his Thanksgiving TV special, he will be cooking up a tiny ham for a Teeny Tiny Christmas special, airing on the Food Network December 3.
