A new show is popping up on TLC this summer.
The Discovery-owned cable channel ordered a ‘Dr Pimple Popper’ TV series, based on California dermatologist Sandra Lee’s wildly popular Instagram and YouTube videos of her ridding patients of some of the grossest puss-filled lumps and bumps.
The upcoming show will be hour-long episodes and will be similar to the network’s behind-the-scenes special that aired in January, The Wrap reports.
TLC has ordered a Dr Pimple Popper TV series for the summer
Dr Sandra Lee, aka Dr Pimple Popper, is known for posting videos and photos of her popping her patient’s pimples. She is seen here removing a patient’s lipoma
The special, which included Lee popping a ‘football-sized’ cyst on a homeless man’s back, brought in 1.2million viewers and was the most buzzed about show on Facebook that evening.
TLC said each hour-long episode of the TV series will show what it takes for Lee and her staff to ‘resolve some unusual dermatologist cases, as well as transform the lives of her patients,’ according to The Wrap.
The team of doctors will use scalpels, syringes and other medical instruments to remove their patients’ pimples, cysts, blackheads, warts, acne and lipomata. Of course Lee and her team will also be wearing squirt-protective gear as ‘popaholics’ know that Lee’s pimple-popping can get a bit messy.
TLC has yet to officially announce the new series, but did post a casting call for anyone who thinks they need Lee’s help.
Lee, a California-based dermatologist, started posting videos in 2010 and saw her popularity explode in 2015

Lee also removes large cysts (as seen above) from her patients
‘Do you have a lipoma or cyst? Are you suffering from severe blackheads or acne? Do you have an undiagnosed skin condition that is negatively affecting you? We want to hear your story,’ the casting call reads, encouraging potential stars to send over a photo of their ‘problem area’.
Lee first started posting videos of her popping her patients’ pimples and cysts in 2010.
Her popularity exploded in 2015 leading to more than two million Instagram followers and an hour-long Facebook series called ‘Dr. Pimple Popper: This Is Zit’.
